Frequently Asked

Questions

Hopefully this page will address many of the questions that you may

have while visiting our site.  If not, feel free to contact us.

General:

1. Who are the Band of Mudders?

The Band of Mudders are a group of people with a common interest...and that's getting out of the everyday rat race of life and enjoying what nature has to offer.  We love to take our trucks and hit the trails just to see where they will take us.  In some cases that may lead us through the sand, water, or mud...and that's okay!

2. When did the Band of Mudders (BOM) form?

BOM formed "officially" in 2004.  Many of us have been camping and hitting the trails together since 2001, but we didn't really pull together as a group until later.  For quite some time we kicked around the idea of coming up with a name and making up some decals for our trucks.  We figured if nothing else, it was a good idea for traveling to and from the trails.  Maybe if other drivers saw a caravan of vehicles with the same decal on them, they would get out of our way! It does work some of the time.

3. How can I join the group?

Our standing rule on membership is pretty simple actually.  You must join multiple members on the trails or on a camping trip before you are eligible for full-fledged membership to the group.  This could be as elaborate as one of our weekend getaways, or just an evening of hitting the local mud holes.  The best way to get involved is to join the forums and get to know the group a little better.

4. What requirements are there for being a member?

Membership starts with an interest in camping, relaxing weekends in the woods, and OFF-ROADING!  Members must have a trail-ready vehicle that is willing to take to the trails with the group.

5. What are these 3 different classifications of membership?

-Probationary Member: This status has been removed as of 4/28/07.

-Support Team Member: This status has been removed as of 4/28/07.

-Official Member: Ahh yes...the "Official Member" rank.  This is when you know that you have won a majority of the group over.  It doesn't require the whole group to have met you, but a few of the members anyways (or at least one of the founding members - Ruff Rider and Mud Hunter) to stick up for you.  With this rank you will be set up with further gallery pages accessible through your personal home page.  This will include pages such as Pictures, OOPS, and Projects.

6. What perks are there to being an "Official Member" of the group?

As an "Official Member" you will get the previously mentioned additional pages.  You will also be able to access a much larger and more informational section of our Forums.  This is the section where the group keeps in touch, chats, discusses site issues and more.  Not to mention the ever so important part where we plan our camping trips and off-road expeditions!!  Official members are the only ones allowed to sport the official BandOfMudders.com windshield banner as well.

7. Can I be kicked out of the group?

Yes, anyone can be kicked out of the group at any time.  It would require you to do something that the majority of the rest of the group found to be really un-cool.  We all get along and don't want to start any crap with other groups or people.  You would most likely be warned before it happened, but that is not set in stone.  The founding members will pull rank if need be in a case like this.

8. How can I contact someone in BOM?

There is a "Contact Info" page at the top of each members home page.  You may or may not find e-mail or phone contact info in there, it just depends if that particular member wants that info available.  It is in no way required of our members to disclose that information.  An alternative way would be to use the forums and post in an appropriate section.

9. What is the BOM SQUAD?

The "BOM Squad" is the name given to the group of supporters of our site.  This is anyone that paid money to buy one of our official decals and proudly displays it on their vehicle.  You can click the link at the bottom of the home page to see their vehicle sporting the decal.

Members:

1. As a member, do I have to put contact info on the site?

It is in no way required of our members to disclose that information.

2. How do I get something added to my page (pictures, information, etc...)?

At this time, the only way to get new info added is by going through the site webmasters.  This can be done by e-mailing us at mudhunter@gmail.com or ruffrdr@gmail.com.  Or, since you are already a member, you could go into the forums and post in the Members Only section under the Site Issues/Suggestions/Feedback section.

3. What happened to the other ranks of membership?

The decision was made to get back to the basics...this site is all about off-roading and the vehicles we use to do that.  So it only seemed right to remove the "Support Team" members.  This was put into effect when the new home page was released.

4. What is the "Co-Driver" that is now listed on some of the members' home pages?

The "Co-Driver" is listed on some of the home pages for those who have someone else they allow to navigate the trails in their truck.  It is up to the driver of the listed vehicle to alert the administrators of anyone who has been given the opportunity to drive their vehicle, and is allowed to be listed as a "co-driver".  Co-drivers are treated as full-ranking members and can have their own CB Handle and members-only access to the forums (with admin approval).
